AWS Cloud Builders workshop

I joined today AWS Cloud Builder workshop driven by Tomasz Stachlewski, AWS architect. The main focus was on latest technologies – big data, serverless and AI.

About 80 people came to the event! That’s quite lot considering different level of knowledge. It was quite visible since early beginning – instead of 20 minutes, first, simple task took more than 1 hour! First half was basic introduction to AWS services. During 4 tasks participants got familiar with EC2, IAM, Cloud9 (new AWS service for developers), CodeStar, CodeCommit, CodeDeploy (CI/CD integrated solution), CloudFormation and Elastic Contair Service (ECR, ECS, Fargate). The second part was much more intensive. It was composed of S3, Kinesis, EMR, Athena, QuickSight, Lambda and DynamoDB.

The most valuable was using real life problems to demonstrate the services. I enjoyed the workshop – definetly it was not a waste of time. However it was rather dedicated to newbies and beginners than advanced people.

Interesting piece was quiz for the entire group using http://kahoot.it.
